How Bits sources, checks and publishes driver data.

Bits is a comparison catalogue built by 00 Audio. This page defines what the fields mean, where they come from, how validation works and where the data can still be wrong.

Sources and provenance

Manufacturer product pages and datasheets are the primary source for models, dimensions and acoustic specifications. UK-facing vendor pages provide price, stock and purchase-link signals. Driver pages retain the manufacturer source or datasheet link where available, while vendor offers link back to the seller.

Normalization and matching

Source labels are converted into consistent units and canonical field names. Vendor listings are matched using manufacturer, model and impedance evidence; ambiguous variants and bundles are excluded from exact price comparisons. A normalized value is an interpretation of the cited source, not a new measurement.

What T/S validation means

For low-frequency drivers, automated checks cover required Thiele–Small fields, physical ranges and relationships between values. Valid means the available record passes those checks. Warning flags missing or questionable evidence; Error flags a stronger contradiction;Unchecked means the validator has not produced a result. These labels do not certify a product or replace measurement and engineering judgement.

UK pricing, VAT and availability

Prices are comparison signals captured from seller listings and normalized to GBP. The interface states whether VAT is included or excluded where that evidence is known. Stock, delivery charges, promotions and tax treatment can change between refreshes; confirm the final price and availability with the seller before buying. Some outbound links may become affiliate links, but that does not change validation or matching rules.

Known limitations and corrections

Manufacturers publish data in inconsistent formats, model families can contain near-identical impedance variants, and pages change without notice. Automated extraction can therefore be incomplete or wrong. Use the report control on each driver page, or email support@00aud.io, with a source for the correction. Reports are reviewed against manufacturer or seller evidence before catalogue data is changed.

Relationship to 00 Simulator

Bits helps identify and compare candidate drivers; 00 Simulator uses driver parameters in enclosure calculations. Passing catalogue validation does not guarantee a particular simulation or real-world result. Check the source data, model tolerances and your own constraints before committing to a design.

Methodology questions

Where does the driver data come from?

Bits collects specifications and documents published by loudspeaker manufacturers, then matches those records to listings from UK-facing vendors. Each driver page links to the source page or datasheet when one is available.

Does a valid T/S result guarantee that every value is correct?

No. Valid means the available Thiele–Small values pass automated completeness, range and consistency checks. It does not replace the manufacturer datasheet, an independent measurement or engineering judgement.

How fresh are prices and availability?

Vendor listings are refreshed by the ingestion service and the public data-quality page shows the latest published snapshot. Prices and stock can change between refreshes, so the vendor page is the final source before purchase.

How can I report a correction?

Use the report control on a driver page or email support@00aud.io with the driver URL, the value in question and a source that supports the correction.
